Our founders, Ashley, Aubrie, and Janelle were brought together by one unfortunate commonality- all of their young sons were diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. While navigating the challenges of this disease, they all came to the same conclusion that a Diabetic Alert Dog would be of huge benefit to their child’s health and wellbeing. After going through the process of getting Service Dogs through M.D. Dogs, their passion for this life-saving tool grew even more. Hoping to help other children just like their own have access to a Service Dog from M.D. Dogs, this non-profit was born!
It is our mission to provide funds towards a Diabetic Alert Dog through M.D. Dogs to children in need. Diabetic Alert Dogs are very expensive, averaging around $25,000, but are worth their weight in gold. We know this is not an easily accessible amount of money for most people, and it can be stressful to try and fundraise this amount while also caring for a child with additional medical needs. Through your donations, Special Spaniels for Kids is able to help ease the financial burden of this life-saving tool for children and their families.
